As in real life, emotions are ruling. Everyone has a separate agenda and tunnel vision. Fun to read and hard to write while also being realistic.

I especially like China's perspective as a lawyer - it adds a bit of critical analysis to volatile emotions..

You're right--her lawyer training/practice kicks in at important points. It also gives her a perspective on the criminal process, and a clear sense of how a crime needs to be investigated. It doesn't keep her from making mistakes, but at least she understands the outcomes. This gets more pronounced as the series continues and I get access to more research material online. The early books were written without that benefit, and it shows.

A suggestion for Guerrilla Readers - Nobody's Girl, a memoir by Virginia Giuffre. is a powerful

read and details what the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell went through. And why the fight for justice is so important not just for the survivors but for anyone being preyed upon by sexual predators

Excellent suggestion, Charlene. Adding it to the list now https://susanwittigalbert.substack.com/s/guerrilla-reads

So in addition to the loose canon that is Violett we also have the Molotov cocktail that is Meredith. Explosive situation! Meredith is a volcanic mix of grief, anger and suspicion and China’s attempts to rein her in are not guaranteed to be effective.

Love having two episodes! Great way to spend a snow day,

I guess you get that I’m using the Royal We in this case - given my dreadful balance, wariness of heights, vertigo and advanced age, no way I’d even think of roof-climbing!

Susan Wittig Albert's avatar

Well, yes. You and me both, kid! 🤣

Snow situation not too bad - but more expected on the weekend.

Still waiting to hear re appointment.

Hang in there. My Juneau son (aage 64) managed to shovel all the snow off his roof. The neighbor's roof collapsed, so it was a good thing to do--if dangerous, and a lot of work!

Your son has my deepest sympathy! And admiration. We’d have a very hard time getting up on our roof.

I love the incendiary vocabulary you use.

Inspired by Susan 😆

Lynne, Hope the snow situation has cleared off enough so people can get to work--and you can reschedule that appointment!

I didn't intend to double-send, but I'm glad it happened, so the 2 stories--3, if you count Constance's tale--can be read the way they were originally available to readers, one after the other. In serial, the accumulated impact is too easily lost. Hope your snow day isn't too disruptive! ⛄☃️

Sometimes an accident is a good thing! I’ve enjoyed the unintentional duo😍 Enjoying sitting by the fire with my tablet and books 😄

Did we miss episode 17?

Debbie, thank you! I've corrected the error--mixed up the episode order when I scheduled the posts. I appreciate your correction! ❤️
